Health preparation should account for altitude (Cusco is at 3,400m), tropical diseases in the Amazon, and food/water-borne infections. Yellow Fever vaccination is recommended for Amazon travel and may be required for onward travel to other South American countries.

Practical tips to help you stay safe, healthy, and prepared throughout your trip.
Yellow Fever is recommended at least 10 days before Amazon travel. Plan 6–8 weeks ahead for Rabies if trekking in remote areas. Altitude sickness medication (Acetazolamide) should be obtained before departure — we stock it at the clinic.
May to October (dry season in the Andes — best for Machu Picchu and trekking). The Amazon is accessible year-round but drier from June to November. Lima is mild year-round. December to March is the wet season in the highlands.
